'Treat game'
The prosecutor, handling the case, outlined the defendant's actions to the judicial body.
She explained his victims were under-privileged children who were attending a youth camp which he managed.
The defendant engaged in a "treat game" with the children, the legal counsel stated, in which he would go into the children's bedrooms when they were settling down and request they to consume candy "rapidly".
She informed the proceedings the defendant had played this game with the children "over an extended period", and youngsters had earlier experienced illness the next day.
She stated the defendant had been able to explain this repeatedly as the minors being "overexcited from fun", until his family member had suspicions in July 2025.
Mrs Prior KC added: "This year his stepchild had suspicions about what was going on, with valid cause.
"They resolved" to examine in the individual's items."
The legal counsel explained items including baby oil, ointment and injection devices were located, and his stepchild alerted the law enforcement about his suspicions.
She said the man went on to engage in the "sweet game" with six children that evening - that Saturday - and they were all ill the subsequent day.
"Law enforcement" had not arrived by that time," she continued.
The regulatory agency, the police conduct office, had stated that it was examining the police response of the situation.
Mrs Prior said the minors were unable to walk properly due to their condition, so the stepson contacted the law enforcement once more.
She explained the defendant then conducted the "treat game" in a space of five youngsters.
